Kevin de Cuba, Senior Fellow
Kevin de Cuba is a senior fellow and is also the executive director of the Americas Sustainable Development Foundation (ASDF), an official partner of Worldwatch.
Kevin serves as Worldwatch’s dedicated liaison to Caribbean governments, partnering with NGOs, project developers, and other stakeholders in the region. He is responsible for building opportunities to expand Worldwatch’s portfolio in the Caribbean, including the unique integrated "roadmap" approach to energy and infrastructure planning and for facilitating its translation into measurable results and benefits.
Kevin also forms part of Worldwatch’s senior strategy and expert team for the development of new research, outreach, and program priorities in Latin America and the Caribbean, including the promotion and application of the Cradle to Cradle® design and production methods and other innovative solutions that address local energy, climate, and sustainability needs from a holistic and integrated approach.
Kevin is a board member of the Caribbean Green Technology Center (CGTC) and an active member of the Renewable Energy and Carbon Management Advisory Group for the review of the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Product Standard V4, managed by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.
Before joining Worldwatch, Kevin worked as a senior energy and sustainable development specialist at the Organization of American States. He also was instrumental in the design, fundraising, development and implementation of the Closed Looped Cycle Production in the Americas program. Kevin was a key technical lead or project manager for the Global Sustainable Energy Islands Initiative, the Eastern Caribbean Geothermal Energy Project, the US-Brazil Biofuels Initiative, the Renewable Energy Initiative in the Americas, the Caribbean Sustainable Energy Program, the Low Carbon Caribbean Community Project, and the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA), and was in charge of the ECPA Caribbean Initiative up to 2013.
Kevin has a BSc. (Honors) degree in Environmental Technology with specialization in Waste Management and Waste Water Treatment from the VHL University of Applied Sciences, and an MSc. degree in Sustainable Development with specialization in Energy & Materials from the Copernicus Institute at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He is fluent in English, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, and Papiamento.
